Tourists

Taken in New Orleans on the Moonwalk facing the Mississippi river. After we walked past this couple I asked my mum to stand nearby while I set the exposure and focus pretending I was going to photograph her. Then I turned, quickly snapped the tourists and walked away without looking back!

Recently colourized using Adobe Photoshop 7 on an Apple Mac. I lightened the original and kept it untouched as the bottom layer. Then for each differently coloured bit I created a new layer and filled sections in solid block colours, playing around with the layer blend modes (normal, multiply, colour burn, hard light) and adjusted the opacity and fill settings. Couldn't figure out how to get the skin tones less grey though. Took me about four hours, definitely learned some new Photoshop tricks! Below is a copy of the b+w orginal.
