- Team Denmark was the winner by the narrowest of margins in a seven-team round robin tournament Spring '97. Sixteen teams from Europe, the USA, Japan, Australia and South Africa are now engaged in friendly (but fierce) competition. A second formal tournament will begin Fall 1997.

The First Internet Backgammon Server has been on the net since July 19, 1992. Originally at a site in Germany, FIBS moved to Sweden on December 3, 1993 and to California on June 16, 1996. Since April 7, 1997 FIBS is hosted by Concentric Network Corporation in Cupertino, California.
